I can see where using "big Box Store" bolts with no shanks might be a problem with incorrect alignment.

Are the Repro sets like these correctly manufactured to hold...

Big Box bolts are not hardened and do not have shanks in the correct places.

A common problem ...

There were two versions of grease baffles:

Early ones use a longer bolt.

Later ones use SHORT bolts and special nuts.

You must have later version baffles with early...

Breaking the ears off the flange is a common thing when people use a 5/16ths-18 bolt that is too long.

If bolt is too long it bottoms out on the casting after it screws through to opposite side...

There was an Automatic transmission that Cartwright CORP came out with in July 1931.

Also there was a vacuum assisted clutch that Bendix came out with.

It is not clear if either one of these...

Is the fan blade loose on the water pump shaft or hub?

Disconnect fan belt from engine pulley for a short time and see if noise stops.

As I remember angle is different with "A" profile.

I have 3 or 4 tach-dwell meters which I have used since 1955 on Model As, VWs, Porsches and various other engines with standard points/coil ignition systems.

I agree that a bad cutout on top of generator is most likely the cause of dead battery.

Also if cutout or wires to the cutout are not installed correctly same thing will happen.
