Petehoovie: No - that's a speaker grill. This is a radio delete/block-off plate: https://www.ebay.com/itm/176277271658

Re: Radio repair
Cost? I had the guy in Minnesota convert two for me. The first go around it wouldn't hold the station tune when shut off and started back up. To fix that "feature" I had to pay the $600 the second time!

Re: Radio repair
I also paid about $500 to get AM/FM in my 1946. If I had a do over, I would get a small portable Bluetooth speaker and lay it on the rear seat. Play Pandora or Spotify on your smart phone...Sorry Flip Phones dont work....LOL

Re: Radio repair
So, dd you want it restored or converted to solid state? There's something magical about a working vacuum tube radio.

Re: Radio repair
I had a similar experience with the guy from Minnesota. It was over Covid so things got drug out. By the time I found out it didn’t work he accused me of trying to scam him. I had it repaired by the fella in Council Bluffs and it worked. I now have one of the most expensive AM radios on earth.

Re: Radio repair
I had an experience using a digital converted radio in my 52 truck that didn't like the reproduction spark plug wires from Dennis Carpenter. Not any ignition suppression in them, the Bluetooth/USB module wouldn't work with those wires in the truck. So a looped suppression wire between the distributor and the coil solved the problem. Took awhile to figure this all out with help of a lot of people including Ross from AZ who finally figured it out.
