41 clutch R&R advice
Fellas, I've replaced more clutches in pre 1941 Fords than I care to recall. In fact, I just last week finished a '36 in about 5 hours.
I have replaced only one in a '41 Ford and it was brutal. There was not enough clearance to remove the transmission without removing the center brace from the frame. I find it difficult to believe that was the prescribed method of operation. So, was that 41 a fluke or are 41's inherently a pain in the butt? Advice please. I'm listening! Thanks guys.

Re: 41 clutch R&R advice
Kube, Here's what the 1935-48 MOTORS MANUAL says. Wonder if they ever actually did it? I have never removed a 41 trans.

Re: 41 clutch R&R advice
Mike,
While its been a couple years I have had to replace the clutch in two 1941's. Both were a tighter fit than the norm, however on both I was barely but still able to remove the transmission through the floorboard area out through the inside of the car. On both I did not remove the center frame brace... If I remember correctly I did have to remove the rear transmission mount to get it to clear. |
