I have one pair of these left. I have seen the rest and decided to make the best.

I made these brake drum retainers to help prevent damage should the rear axle of my 1940 FORD break and try to “walk out” thereby causing sheet metal damage to my fenders, etc.

After installing the MT Products 1939 Lincoln (Bendix Style) “loaded” backing plates, hubs, and brake drums on my 40 FORD, I decided to make several sets of brake drum retainers in case other folks may also want them. I made five pair. Each brake retainer weighs 13 oz.

Each retainer is made from precision water jet cut ¼ inch and 3/16 inch thick steel pieces which have been MIG welded together from each side of the weld joints to ensure strong welds. Each retainer is then “test fit” on my own car (with 15 inch rims) to make sure they fit properly with no drum or wheel interference. I then hand finish, number stamp and paint each retainer. Two 5/16-18x1 grade 8 hex bolts and four grade 8 washers come with each pair of retainers.

The unique features of these brake drum retainers are that they are not only made of much thicker material, BUT that they are curved to fit the top of the 12 inch diameter brake drum and provide a ¼ inch by 3 inch long curved friction surface to provide full contact when needed.
