Question Horn Windings

Just opened up my horn and the windings look kind of sloppy. See attached picture. Is this normal?

Pretty much normal. Sloppier is better, I've read, but it actually doesn't make a lot of difference.

Those sloppy windings look are typical of what I find in original Sparton and Stewart Warner horns.

Stuff was not machine wound in a lot of cases during the model A era. They don't have to look good to work. The main thing is that they have the right gauge wire and the right number of turns to make the coil work as intended.
