Default serial number id

I just picked up a 39 standard coupe body that was sitting on a very good shape frame with a serial number of 799 1476657 with the stars at the front and back of the number. I looked in mac vanpelts numbers and couldn't come up with anything. also it has the sway bar mounted on the front. I tried to put a couple pics on here but for some reason it wouldn't let me. just curious as to what frame this may be. thanks for the help.

A common problem attempting to upload photos is the files are too large. If you want help with them email them to me: [email protected]

It's not a '39 frame. It's a '47 frame which are basically the same from '41-'48.

It could be that you have a 39 Merc frame, or a special order Ford that was fitted with the 239 CID engine. As I recall the '40 DeLux cars had the front sway bar, therefore it is conceivable that it could have been available for special order cars in late '39.

The 39 Merc's had the 239 CID engine which Ford identified as "99". Ford continued to use the 99 number to identify vehicles that had the 239 CID engine.

I ran into this problem in 2015 with a '46 Ford that I had, the state would not honor the serial number on the frame/title because it was 99Axxxxxx. Published documentation, Standard Catalog of American Cars, shows that a '46 Ford V8 serial number should be 69Axxxxxx
