Default front brake actuator installation

Hi Guys, back into Model As again after a fling with Ford flatheads , doing the front brakes over on my 31 roadster pickup and trying to install the front brake actuators, cant get the threaded stud into the hole for it in the spring perch and don't want to take apart the backing plates, just would like to know how it is done , thanks Barry B/Ma

No doubt Marshall has clued you in . Just for those who have the same problem here is how you do it . You have to rotate the kingpin to align the actuator connector . You do not need to remove the backplate . Knock out the kingpin retainer take care when you do this as it is easy to mushroom the threaded end you might need a little heat . Use a crescent wrench to clip into the open top and the kingpin should rotate enough to engage the actuator . A small pipe wrench or vise grip should easily rotate the kingpin back afterwards . Make sure the kingpin is correctly aligned before you bop the pin back in place they are easily damaged and wont go fully home if the holes are not correctly aligned .
