Default Happy Wife, Happy Life

A bit off topic but I'd thought I'd share. My wife loves old pickups. Come the holidays she's glued to the TV watching Hallmark Christmas shows. Apparently there's some guy who drives a red '52 or '53 1/2 tonner and she's fallen in love with that truck. Being a lousy husband when it comes to buying a Christmas gift I found this 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle offer when I got the Hemmings last month. Her favorite truck is front and center and she had it done in 3 days, only working on it at night after work. She loves it and is going to seal, frame it and hang it on the wall. I done good. Attached is the picture of the box it came in and the completed puzzle. Sorry my photography skills lack but you get the idea.

And at the start of this, I was sure you were going to buy her the pickup of her dreams! LOL! I think you better start shopping now!

Seems like it a "marriage made in heaven"....you get her the truck of her dreams in some state of repair, and you both get to work on it....you can't let her interest go to waste!!!

My wife commented that she needed a barn truck to haul all of her horse stuff.
This is what I got for her. '34 with 53 Merc and C4 automatic transmission. She loves it, and has the whole spiel down for the ooglers.

She'd be all over that. Unfortunately I'm out of room in the garage. I guess I could park one of these outside and through a tarp over it. Which one should I choose? I'll have to wait until the garage doors aren't frozen to the concrete though.

That would probably work for her too, it certainly would for me. Nice truck! If it just weren't for that Hallmark Christmas movie thing. There's some interesting commentary below the pictures in this link.

just picked up two 65 Ford trucks for a friend of mine for his wife--he has a 51 sedan and wanted a 51 truck to go with it but settled for what she likes!! so I would add to the happy wife--happy life mantra

I always used to think of the 48-52 F1 trucks as potato bug trucks and I figured they were at the bottom of the barrel as far as vintage ford Trucks go. I also thought the 44-47 Jail bar truck was even lower on the totem pole but at least the jail bar truck had a '40 type cab, bed and back fenders so if one was ambitious one could put a '40 front end on it. Now that time has marched on the F1 has grown on me and I'm now amazed at the prices people are asking for them! I guess everybody who grew up during the era of Sanford and Son when the F1 really was just a crummy old pickup has to have one now!

It seems that you and the black '47 coupe are not together now, either! DD
