Default 1941 Ford side window "anti rattler felts"?

Guys I'm not even sure what to call them but I would like to replace those hairy things that seal and secure the side windows in my '41 Coupe.

I purchased a beautiful kit from Bob Drake. Really spot on parts and I'm very happy with them.

My question is the original parts have holes through which a spring clip is inserted and this attaches the felts to the inside of window open in the door on each side of the glass.

How do you guys put those holes in the felts. The spine of the felts is very delicate and I don't want to muss things up.

Any advice or first hand experience would be greatly appreciated.

There are some very small metal screws that you use to attach the fuzzies. The head of the screw is cone-shaped on the bottom and flat on the part that the screwdriver fits in, like a wood screw. Position the fuzzy and drill through it and the metal. The head of the screw will bury in the fuzzy and never be seen or touch the glass.

I'm watching for the answer also, found a Drake kit in my truck that the previous owner left.

After struggling with the repro felts I started using the fuzzy side of stick on Velcro between the window and door and the window and the garnish. I have done this for several years and once you stick it on it stays. I know it's not concourse perfect but it works.

Thank you
That trick can/will save lots of time and frustion. Now if you had a way of attaching the little ss edge to the Velcro.

I just did all my 41 tudor and I used the screws. Laid it on the door and drilled thru both at the same time , for the garnish I used the supplied staples drilling 2 holes for the staples . Everything went in easy and fit perfectly.

If you don't like the screws, try using silicone to glue them on. I've used it. Tape or clamp them overnight.

Where do you get the screws or staples? I am going to have to do this for my 41 Tudor soon. I like the fuzzy velcro idea, but I want to have that stainless steel edge.

Roy Nacewicz has the screws.

When I replaced mine on '40 Sedan....I used a very sharpe pin point punch on a wooden bench. New heavy staples came with the anti-rattles and I had no probs at all. They have held very well and did not bend them when using the punch.

You can use Phillips screws I'm thinking number 4. Clamp the fuzzie drill one screw at a time. Done many of these. On the garnish you may have to cut the screw off on the back side.

I got my kit from Bob Drake also. It came with the Staples I pre drilled all the staple holes to match the original holes in my door metal and inside trim metal push them through and use needle nose pliers to curl the back sides around to tighten everything up took a while but it looks good.

My doors have pre drilled holes. The originals have a spring clip which pushes through the felt backer and into the hole in the door.

I'm worried that a drill bit might grab and damage the felt. I'm seriously considering on taking an awl and a block of wood and punching a hole through.
