How to lube Throwout bearing on multi disk
I am trunig to lubricate the throwout bearing on my 28 Leatherbask with a multi disk clutch. The problem is that I cannot see the fitting as it must be facing down. The Victor Page book just say to turn it to get access to the fitting. I tried turning the the assembly with the fitting with my hand but it will not move. I even jacked up the rear end and put the trans in first then stepped on the starter. I can see the clutch assembly and wheels turn but the collar with the fittins still doesn't move. I am nervous about tringt to put channel locks on the collar to try to turn it. What is the secret? I hope to finish the lube in time for a Memorial Day parade.
Thanks, Supergnat |

That bearing should spin freely to get the zerk to the top. make sure the throwout fork is not touching the bearing. It could be slightly out of adjustment. If all else fails put the transmission in nuetral and turn the engine with the crank until the zerk is on top. Rod

Thanks for the tip about the fork. I jigged the fork and was able to move the bearing collar easily. All greased and ready for Monday. I will also add Jessica and your family back on my prayer list. I am thankful for the positive progress so far. Supergnat |
