Red face What the...Nokia tyres ???

I really like the price of these 5.50x19 bias ply but does anyone know anything about Lucas Nokia or read any reviews? And made where?

"These beautiful European style tires are made in the original Nokia molds and have been popular with vintage car enthuiasts all over the world."

Good afternoon...I have Lucas tires on our 1931 Tudor and have had for about four years. They run well and seem to wear well. Great value for $99.00 each. Ernie in Arizona

Nokian Tyres Oyj, headquartered in Nokia, Finland, produces tyres for cars, trucks, buses, and heavy-duty equipment. Known for its winter tyres, Nokian operates the only permanent winter tyre testing facility in the world. The company's Hakkapeliitta brand name is recognised in Finland as a reputable trademark.

Hakkapeliitta is commonly specified for Prius as a winter tire.

Are these tires made by Lucas or Nokia? It sez they are made with Nokia Molds but are they made by Lucas (China I believe).

Don't get me wrong, I have Lucas Olympic tires on my car and like them, I would just like this clarified.

At $129 each there's no way these are made in Finland. These are branded as Lucas and my guess is they are made in Vietnam. Lucas says there are made using the original Nokia molds.

For the price they are a good nylon economy tyre. Nearest rival in the 5.50-19 size is the $204 BF Goodrich Silvertown which are poly (not nylon) and USA made.

Nobody seems to be using these yet...so the jury still out if they are any good or not.

Weren't the worst of those lousy tubes we had to put up with a few years ago made in Finland? I'm sure it was one of the Scandanavian countries! The problem was, they used recycled materials. Have they done the same with these tyres????
If these are made by someone other than Coker, it might bring down the price we all have to pay for tyres. It seems Coker have bought up pretty much all of the manufacturers of classic and vintage tyres so we end up with a monopoly.
PS. That wouldn't be allowed in this country for obvious reasons.

Yes, they are made in Vietnam. They are nylon as mentioned, not polyester, and will have flat spots from sitting for a long time. The flat spots disappear after a couple of miles of driving and heat-up. We run them with radial tubes.
Just did a check and my Lucas tires are labeled 475-500x19 with the Olympic profile, different than the post 1 photo which is a Lucas offering in the Nokia profile

I do like the looks of them. Too bad I don't need tires right now... https://www.lucasclassictires.com/55...kwall-299p.htm

Speaking of tires, does anyone have any experience with these Radials?

At $129 each maybe these might be worth putting into a container to Australia???

Haha, this is true. But since we were talking about Finland using recycled rubber in their tires...

Anyway, too bad Fordlandia didn't work out...

Pretty doubtful that anybody has used the sap from a rubber tree in automotive parts for over 60 years.

My dad used to tell about a time when he was a kid in the mid 1920's. They had a big family gathering at the farm one summer weekend and there were probably a half dozen of his cousins there about his age. They were playing around over by the barn and one of them grabbed up an old inner tube that grand dad had just patched. One of the older boys said , "I'll bet if we pumped that full of water and poked it with a pin it would shoot water in the air 50 feet."

They all thought that was a fine idea and something they had to see. My dad knew where there was a hand pump and somehow they got it hooked up to the tube. He said, "We must have pumped more water in that old tube than would fit in a wheelbarrow. When we finally decided it was full enough, it was stretched so damned thin you could almost see through it."

He went in the house and got one of grandma's hat pins and all the boys gathered around to see the jet of water squirt 50 feet in the air.

When he bent over and poked that pin in the tube they all got a big surprise. It didn't shoot a stream of water in the air, it blew up and drenched everything and everyone within 15 feet.

There wasn't a piece of that tube left big enough to cover the palm of your hand. They all had a big laugh about it, but he wasn't laughing so hard when grand dad went looking for his only good inner tube. Said he couldn't sit comfortably for a couple days.

I bought 600-20 Lucas tires for my AA. Same tread. They had stickers on them, made in Vietnam. Don’t have truck running yet so can’t review performance, but they look nice.

Let us know how quiet they run and how well they grip.

You may want to take a look at the European Classic tires. Just put 2 on the front and really like how they look and a short drive around the neighborhood ran smooth. Also used a Delrin sleeved lug nut socket from HF to protect the freshly powder coated rims.
