Default cutout

Does anyone sell the normal original cutout or are they all going to the diode version?

Why not use anoriginal. There is very little that can go wrong with them. They are plentiful in the fleas markets @$1 each. Grind the two e-weld spots off the lip and clean it up inside. circuit check it, clean the points, set the pressure if you have to and yo are good to go.

Clem, I respect your comments 101%...Let me tell you my story.

Was on a tour in 1984 when I lived in Bakersfield, CA. We were about 40 miles from Bakersfield when my perfectly good (I say that because I thought it was) original cutout failed on me and burned up my generator.

When we got back home, took the generator off and rebuilt it plus I revamped the original cutout by putting a diode in it. Now mind you that was in 1984, 26 years ago, and I have not had a bit of trouble with it since! (Knock on wood).

Sounds like you need to get one of Tom Wesenburgs EVR's (Electronic voltage Control) when mounted they are invisible and then your worries about another failure are taken care of! He posts on this site....
