Re: "B" front motor mount in A
Snyders sells something close. Model A Times reported that they don't work so well.
The trick is to make sure that the big bolts don't rub against the edge of the holes you need to drill in the front cross member, YET somehow keep the motor in place. I've got an earlier version bought from some California company 20 years ago, after I saw it at the Tacoma joint meet in 1994. It seems to work ok. You can almost see it (and other apostasies) in this photo. Steve |

Re: "B" front motor mount in A
Due to the normal flexing of the frame Ford mounted the engines supported at three points similar to the front and rear suspensions. They actually did the same in '32 but the single point was at the rear instead of the front of the engine. Your choice.

Re: "B" front motor mount in A
I tried it, but found no difference in vibration level as compared to stock A front mount and it took some futzing around to eliminate a few new noises resulting from the location of holes drilled in the crossmember for the bolts. Note that the Model-B also had an engine damper attached to the firewall, which is not available on the Model-A. My take is that Ford engineered each as part of a system and that mixing the two systems may not necessarily better. You mileage may vary...

Re: "B" front motor mount in A
years ago John LaVoy tested the various combinations of front motor mounts for vibration. He found the stock mount made the least vibrations. That has been my experience too.

Re: "B" front motor mount in A
I just dropped a model B engine and trans in my 31 model A, had to get a bunch of parts from Bert's in colorado but it worked out real good. The B engine and Trans sits about 1 1/4" farther back than the A engine bot it looks like there would be plenty of room up front to mount the B engine mount. Try Bert's for the mount, no one else had any.
