Default '32 station wagon / woodie value

Hello

I've posted an ad for a friend of mine (his widow in reality ) about a french B32 station wagon.

an original french made woodie
12cv engine upgraded to the 19cv one
working order

I don't known well such cars and I wonder if she's right about the asked price of 30000Eur. (I know without seeing, test the car it's hard).

Thanks
Christophe

What is an "Eur"? OK, I know it is a Euro but you might want to also post it in American dollars since a lot of people (like myself) won't go to the trouble to look up the current exchange rate. The car sure looks nice in the picture.

It's hard enough to give an estimate for a car in different parts of the US, but in France?

Here in the US the difference between a '31 and '32 station wagon, is the '32 is worth about twice the amount for all things being equal.

30,000 euros is about $33,500 US. Here is one that sold at auction in 2010 for $80,000 us.

€30k is about $33500 at today's rates, or about £26500

I'd already looked it up

This looks to be a four cylinder engine (Model B) rather than the much more desirable V-8. French - well, all English & European engines - were rather under-powered compared to the U.S. cars made for the American market. This was due to the heavy tax put on horsepower.

The car's dollar amount of value that has been suggested in the above posts seems to me to be 'in the ball park'.

I only have the 2 photos in the add ( 3/4 front and rear ).

The car is located far from my home ... I could take some picture the next month (which details would be usefull?)

Indeed as mentionned at the beginning: Ford ANF (B model), upgraded with the US 19cv engine (the 12cv original engine cans be supplied with the car)

24hp (19cv) = 3200cc American spec (and English commercial) engine

14.9hp (12cv) = AF and BF 2000cc English French Japan (others?) spec car engine

I have a 1957 Ford Thunderbird for sale. I took pictures of everything a person might ask about. There were 66 pictures. I used an iPhone 6 cell phone and the detail was good enough for showing a person what I had for sale (I also have a high end DSLR but the resolution is much greater than I need). I further reduced the photo size for emailing but kept the higher resolution originals in case any one wanted them. I photographed each side and the front and rear. I did a good 3/4 shot from the front for use in advertising. I photographed all of the problem areas (the car had a couple of dents and rust spots). I didn't want someone to come to look at the car and find a bunch of problems that I didn't photograph. I photographed under the hood, the trunk and the interior. I photographed the instruments and the chassis. I had a lot of extra parts and I photographed them. I had some books that go with the car so I photographed their covers. When you photograph the engine and undercarriage especially be sure there is enough light to show detail. Are you good with a camera or know someone who is? I enjoy taking pictures and would be glad to stop by if I was a little closer, we are literally half a world apart. When I placed ads I only used one photo and directed people to contact me for additional photos and a complete description. You might also check out what it would take to ship the car to the US, I am sure that that will be a deciding factor if it is too high or too complicated. If people have to research shipping they will probably just pass on it.

I sold Minerva to a Man in Canada, sight-unseen! LOTS of pics & much written documentation! He wired me the money & sent a professional hauler.

An interesting vehicle, but the body is a non-Ford creation. A '32 factory station wagon body has an all-steel cowl, including the A-pillars and windshield surround as shown below. This vehicle appears to have been created using a drive-away chassis which had a pillar-less cowl. Whether or not this body is a recent creation or a restoration of an old custom made body cannot be ascertained from the photo.

Your pricing is fair, but remember, your mkt is better in Europe. In America we need to tack on about 3000. to ship and many just dont wish to be bothered going through the customs and trouble.

I would suggest listing it on ebay, with a reserve.
Good Luck!

Indeed the french version is different.
The car's owner couldn't details anymore ... but his widow tell me that this car was in a castle in the south of France - this is an orignal frame. But a Ford French one or a custom body I don't know.

About picture I have to take some additionnal ... I know

if France was anything like england in the post war era... Shooting breaks or "station wagons" enjoyed a government subsidy due to their ability to carry greater numbers of passengers..

that said.. perhaps this was a steel passenger car? and was converted by a local body builder..

if so.. and if that body builder is not well known.. the car may very well be worth many, many thousands less..
