Default Interesting 1935 Ford Truck

I came across this 1935 truck on a parts swapper site and thought I’d share. I love all old trucks and thought this was especially cool. It is said to be for sale soon. I do not know the owner and I am not affiliated with it’s sale. If anyone knows anything about the bed, please share.

Such a nice, and interesting truck! And what a shame it appears they probably ran out of paint and mixed-up a second batch for the two doors and hood. It's very seldom that a second batch will be spot-on. This is why it is paramount to mix ALL paint together before spraying. DD

I think it's too bad they made the bed out of various short hardwood scraps. I could almost see that, being a furniture delivery truck, but the wooden wheel tubs are just wrong. Also I think skirts look good on girls and lead sleds, not so much on a 1 1/2 ton truck. But most of all, 48" of wood glued edge to edge like a butcher block will swell an inch in width when wet. I hope the hold down bolts are in slots or it will buckle like the rocky mountains did... The bed strips we are all familiar with were used for a reason. Expansion/contraction. I like the cab though!

I thought I saw this truck for sale last year? Maybe not but I've seen pictures of it before. Most likely the truck started as a 131 1/2" wheelbase cab and chassis, or had it's Ford factory bed removed at some time. Many of these trucks had vocational bodies added by a large number of different body building companies. Ford supplied the chassis with cab and others did the rest. It looks like someone either created something recently or attempted to restore a period aftermarket body. I sort of like the result, but it both weird and attractive at the same time, so I can't make up my mind.
For this body to keep looking good, it can't be left out in the rain.
Attached is an image from the 1935 Ford Truck Equipment Directory of a GarWood tanker body with similarly styled rear fenders just to show that this type of design is period correct.

Not a Ford but the fender skirts seem to fit on this tanker. IMO

Ok guys, I'm beginning to get it about the fender skirts. On the right truck they are part of the art deco/streamliner thing. I am very rarely critical of how others build their vehicles, but I have a hard time with glossy varnished hardwood in truck beds, rendering them unusable as a truck. I'm sure there are even more folks that have a hard time with modern diesels, never mind Japanese chassis' under a Ford truck. Those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.... I now return to my normal 'Do it the way you want' mode.

Yes paint, bed etcetera they did a fair bit of skimping. Too bad for sure !

Let's face it... A 1 1/2 ton is never gonna bring real money. They cost as much, if not more to restore (huge tires, brake parts etc.) and sell for FAR less than a 1/2 ton. I have probably owned 12 of the big trucks. Got them as dead hulks, got them running, maybe a bed or some used tires and sold them as a functioning unit. I always thought this is the one I'll keep, but they sit in the shed unused and then they go on craigslist. I will always love the big fords, but tonners are a great compromise for me.

I don't think I could see over the steering wheel in that truck. Maybe if I stood on the seat.

Mark I am sitting here and truly LOL!. A couple of 4x8 square mirrors woulda been 3.50 at Western Auto, but that would cut into the profit....
