Saw a Model A in Prague Czech Republic
I was on a church mission team with our youth and saw a 29 Model A driving around and giving tours through the streets of Prague. You just never know where you will run into a good old Ford. There were only three antique cars giving these tours, one Ford, one Praha (the local spelling of Prague and a car brand from back in the day) and a Scoda.

Interesting paint job! But neat to see a Model A in a rather unlikely place.

Re: Saw a Model A in Prague Czech Republic
When I was in Prague last December I saw the same cars!
I also saw them on the T.V. show "The Amazing Race". |

Re: Saw a Model A in Prague Czech Republic
I have seen Czechoslovakia listed as a Ford of Canada export destination in the Model A era. This is from a 'Shipments to Overseas & Indent Dealers' form originally provided by Herman L Smith, Historical Consultant, Ford of Canada.

Ford of Canada exported vehicles only to the British empire, excluding Britain and Ireland who produced their own vehicles. The Canadian Model A Ford Foundation has copies of all Canadian Model A Exports for 1928 thru 1931, there were no shipments outside of the British empire.

I have copies of Canada export records [ from Herman Smith] which show exports to West Africa, Indonesia, Czecho Slovakia & even 2693 cars via Detroit. These places are all outside the British Dominion of that era.

Re: Saw a Model A in Prague Czech Republic
Could it have been GAZ built with a Ford Radiator shroud?
I wonder the difference between the early GAZ looking Model A's and USA built? |

Re: Saw a Model A in Prague Czech Republic
GAZ were post Model A production vehicles made in USSR. But there were Model A's & AA's assembled in USSR during the A era. After US production ended, Henry sold tooling & permission to the Soviets to manufacture whatever. They reneged on the deal & never repaid Ford ; he is quoted as saying that he would never deal with Communists again!
Those Czech Model A's do not look like Gaz ; they could come from anywhere, as even though I know Canada sent a small number there, other Plants could also have supplied them & we know how in modern times, old cars have been bought & sold internationally with ease. |
