I witness "History" Endeavour's fly over
Hi Guy's Last night I saw on TV the map they were showing of the Space Shuttle "Endeavour's" fly over on it's way to it new home at the Space center in L.A. I saw that the 747 & the shuttle were to fly over the L.A. harbor at San Pedro...That's where I live "Greg Out West"...I was watching on TV as the big Jet & the shuttle was doing fly over ... As the Battleship USS Iowa just came to the port in July & they said the fly over path was coming over the Iowa..I thought I'll just get as close as I can to see if i can see it fly over Just as I drove to where the Iowa is Berthed,,,I saw People pointing,,,saying there it is !!!! I looked out the window of my car and there it was the big 747 with the shuttle "Endeavour" on top...I could hear the 747 engine screaming as it went overhead.. It was close,,about a 1000 feet above It's a memory I'll never forget..Felt good to be a "American" this day..God bless this great land " Now I'll wipe my eye & get back to work on another American Icon "The Model A Ford" Take care my friend's Greg out West |

Re: I witness "History" Endeavour's fly over
I would have liked seeing that! I'm sure it was an awesome sight. I used to watch the launches from the Florida coast from my back yard, another awesome sight. When I worked at Vandenberg AFB, I used to watch the launches from the "block house" and it was always amazing to watch the lumbering Atlas missile rise toward the sky.
I think, however, what you witnessed trumps my experiences. Everytime I used to watch the "piggyback" videos of the shuttle, I always worried about it falling off. I wonder what a sight like that would be for the bicycle boys from Dayton, Ohio! Jack

Re: I witness "History" Endeavour's fly over
Thanks for the pictures it is a shame that the program has ended,
However some of the NASA team will still have jobs doing GREEN energy projects with pond scum. We are losing it as a country. |

Re: I witness "History" Endeavour's fly over
here's a link to a video of the flyover at Moffett Field in Mountain View, Calif. Disregard the first 8 minutes unless you like videos of crowds waiting. The Shuttle flies over at 8:30 minutes + or-

Re: I witness "History" Endeavour's fly over
I worked at the Kennedy SC for the past 15 years..... no more. NASA's direction has changed and James you are correct. I won't get political but we as a nation do need to wake up and realize the direction we are heading......
Here is a pic I took of Endeavour and Atlantis facing each other for the last time.
