1927 Ford paint question
Good afternoon everyone and a pleasant Sunday to you all!
I have a 1927 model T that I’ve been mechanically restoring and it is just off for painting…. I think I’ve come up with the color of hunter green as the original! Wondering if anyone had a paint code that would still cross match as closely as I can to the original……and I get it, the paint is pushing 100 years old…. I’ve come up with PPG numbers, old Ditzler, etc… if anyone has painted a car in Hunter Green (or a close approximation in the recent years)…..and could offer the paint code number that they used … I would be greatly appreciative… Ed “Scotsman” Douglas |

Re: 1927 Ford paint question
Ed,
I've gone through the paints colors that were used on 1927 Fords, and I cannot find anything called "Hunter Green." The colors that are known are Channel Green, Drake Green, Highland Green and Commercial Green. I know the paint codes for these colors. Also, some information regarding the finish for a 1927 Ford has surfaced, and it appears that the finish had a "satin" sheen, not a high gloss. I've attached a copy of a Ford sales brochure that addresses the paint finish for a 1927 Ford. I hope this helps. Russ Furstnow |
