Title a Model T in Pa.?
I have an early 1923 truck with a signed registration card by the original owner from 1937. The card states the model, date first registered, vin, owner's name and address. Its my understanding that they didn't begin to issue vehicle titles until 1923 in Pennsylvania. Being this is an early 1923, I wonder if the truck could be titled from the registration card? Has anyone had an experience like this to obtain a title in Pa.? I'm going to check with a notary too. The card is the only proof of any prior ownership that I have. No title.

Re: Title a Model T in Pa.?
Buy a title... Model Ts were ID'd by engine numbers and very few even still have the original in them. Stamp some numbers that match on the frame or make a water inlet plate stamped with the numbers and glue it and paint it in place. Cops dont care about stuff like that when the gangstas' are killin' grandma for crack money. They see a Model T and smile from ear to ear.
When I see a cop doing radar by us, I pull in on purpose to STS with him so they see mine up close and personal. The guys here are surprised that a motorist can make a social call without pulling out the UZI. ws

I understand what you're saying. I really don't want to surrender the old registration card since it will end up being destroyed. Where I'm at its more dirt forest roads than pavement anyway. I'm giving the title company approach some serious thought. though. |

Re: Title a Model T in Pa.?
Don't really know what it's like in Pa. but in N.J. if you don't go to a DMV office that handles classic or collector car plates you'll get crap information. Go on-line get a phone # and get some hard info. Pictures might be necessary. They are here (3 views). I kind of doubt you'll be keeping that registration card. Better get a good color copy before you try to title it. A title in the former owner's name does you no good if that's what you're planning. You'll be in exactly the same boat you're in now. No proof of ownership.

Re: Title a Model T in Pa.?
After I secured the "original" 1925 title, the great state of Wisconsin returned the original stamped "VOID" as an historical document. I had to supply a SASE.
Wis. began issuing "titles" on May1, 1931. The old guy at the DMV said he hadnt seen a brown title in at least 25 years. No questions asked. KISS me baby!! ws PM me for further details
