i did it! (31 coupe is home!)
well, i did it. sealed the deal yesterday, which was my birthday, and drove her home today.
i've been working on this deal for close to two years with this older guy down the street who has a lot of nice model a's. (this was the worst one he had) he is a very cool old guy, crotchety as all hell. it took me a long time to get him to warm up, and even longer to get him to sell me this coupe. he has owned it for the last 20 years-until today. she is basically stock, except for juice brakes(!) runs and drives well, although a little "tinkering" will be good for her. so what do you think? did i done gooood?? words can't describe how pumped i am right now...... here she is! oh also, earlier in the day i came across this little coke machine and had to have it too.. (hey-it was my birthday!)

Good looking car. I can't imagine that this was his worst car. Best of luck with it, and happy birthday.

If you're happy with it, we at the barn are happy.... EVERYONE should own a Model "A". Congrats & have fun with your new toy! p.s. the coke machine's cool, too.

Re: i did it! (31 coupe is home!)
A memorable birthday indeed! Hard to explain the feeling of bringing one home(happy, proud, etc.) And driving her home is even better. Have fun.
Seems like a rash of "I brought her home"s lately(which is great). Wonder if that shows some consumer confidence picking up, or sellers dropping the price to have money coming in? Either way it's a good thing. |

Re: i did it! (31 coupe is home!)
That's a nice coupe...I really like the wheel colour for some reason.
I have a coupe which came with hydraulics & they seized from sitting. It all worked out actually because I sold the juice brake package for almost enough to buy all the original parts, then restored it to mechanical brakes. I hope you have a great time tinkering and I must say that car looks like it could be used and enjoyed as is. It would be nice to just drive the car around and fix things as they need it. |

Re: i did it! (31 coupe is home!)
Thanks!
Funny you should say that.. one of my best friend's is a "casual" car guy, we're not always into the same things and don't see eye to eye on a lot of stuff. He can respect them, but isn't OBSESSED with them like me. He was over tonight and was giving me a hard time about buying "that pile of scrap" (he was half kidding) and I told him "this pile of scrap is a piece of F*@#ing history" ! haha. I love this car...

Of course it's a great deal - It's A COUPE! But I'm a bit biased.

Re: i did it! (31 coupe is home!)
THANKS!
I was digging around in a pile of left over parts from other model A projects, etc and I knew I had one random patch panel. Pulled it out and guess what? It happened to be the one panel I needed to buy for this car. Guess it was meant to be.....
