Never again!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever ever again, for any reason other than an emergency and that will have to be life threatening, while I have Sarah or any other A as long as I have an A with a rumble seat, remove it and then return it. NEVER again. Those of you that take your rumble out, wham bam thanka mam style, ZIP two screws out and WaaaLAA!!!!! Not with Sarah!!!!!!! and that's all I'm going to say about that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally I view a rumble seat just like a loaded gun. Handled with precautionary measures and they are safe and can be enjoyed. Be foolish with your actions ...and they are dangerous! ( That's all I'm gonna say about that!! ) |

Re: Never again!!!!!!!!!!!
31 Model A's post is very hard to understand. I am not quite sure what he is trying to get at. If he is sold on rumble seats, no problem. Not very good English.

Re: Never again!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a hard time figuring out exactly what his rant was all about.
• Taking the cushion out to make room for cargo? • Converting it back to a trunk? or what???? (And that's all I'm going to say about that!)

Re: Never again!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm relieved. I'm not frustrated, but I must admit I'm confused.

Re: Never again!!!!!!!!!!!
I took the rumble out, and to leave it out and use it as a trunk, second to fix the handle lock since it had no key. When I took it out, the previous owner did not use the D nuts and screws to secure the bottom part of the backrest. It was two wood screws and a washers drill into the lid frame. No problem, I was leaving the seat out anyway. Took the handle off and took it to a locksmith where he cut a new key to fit the original tumblers. Picked it up today, worked fine until I went to lock the lid down. The latch coming out of the cylinder is not slotting itself when I go to lock it. The slotted circle inside the lid is too far away for the latch to fit down inside. OK, so the rumble can't be locked, so I decided to put the rumble back................sure!!!! Back went in OK but getting it bolted down at that angle by someone not so agile anymore is another thing. I did order and get the proper D bolts but finding the hole at my age, is a different matter.......to make a story even longer, the rumble is back in, secured, seat in place and secured and the handle is back as it was.......................
I was fighting cramps both in my fingers and brain when I posted this thread, sorry for the confusion. It was meant to relieve myself of impure thoughts. |

Re: Never again!!!!!!!!!!!
What's worse about all this, the back rest might be secure but.............the right side is not tight at the top and I know tomorrow I'm going to be right back out there doing it all over again, I don't like half ass jobs done. This time though I'll just loosen the bottom screws and then lift the back up and out, get the latch a bit tighter and then reset it. Damn, I probably won't even sleep tonight thinking about it................that's just the way I am.
