Double front radius rod ?
This is how the front radius rod is set up on an early 23' truck I recently got. The perches and rod are pre-1919. I wonder if the lower radius was aftermarket or a home made answer to stiffen the front. Anyone else see something done like this?

I've seen both aftermarket and home made. It's a pretty common accessory.

As Steve said, this accessory was common.
The picture is hard to see, but I assume you are calling the car a truck. To me a truck is a TT with a worm drive rear end and a much heavier frame. I do not think Ford had a name for a pickup in the model T days. |

Re: Double front radius rod ?
Yep. It came from the factory a Model T chassis that became a "truck" or Huckster when they added a wooden body. Its not the heavy duty one ton. I traced this back to the original owner that used it on a farm. The living relatives tell me this vehicle sure earned its place and was was quite the talk of the town back then. Not may people had gas powered vehicles in this rural part of Pa. yet.

Re: Double front radius rod ?
I own a TT truck that was bought new in 1924. It came with hood, front fenders, TT running board and a firewall. Seat, cab and bed were left up to the buyer to install.
My Dad and his brothers were the buyers and they just added a bed and a seat. The truck was used to replace the horses and wagon in a cotton gin operation. I guess they were used to an open wagon so they never did add a cab. Much later a 1932 BB truck was bought to replace the TT. I have it also. (it has a cab) |
