Default older oil pump?

Decided to pull the oil pump and clean the filter screen while the pan is off. The housing looks to have been soldered to the main pump. The Model A Handbook shows a filister head screw holding the cover to the pump where this one has been soldered. There is no tapped hole nor is there a place big enough for a screw to be placed. Other than that the oil pump gears and bottom plate have no wear at all. If I can't re-solder this back together, I guess a new pump is in order.

The majority of Model As here by far are the earlier 1928/9 ones. I have seen plenty of oil pumps like that.

I'm sure this one is very early. Made in Canada, moved to U.S. The four bolts holding the bottom plate on the housing are metric threads with 11mm head bolts.

If the pump is that old, you may want to look it over and see if any of the updates had been performed.
Mainly the shaft OD reduced (stepped) if the housing ID is too small.

Brent is a great source for this information.

I ordered a new oil pump from a vendor. This old pump has the small diameter housing so does anybody know if the bore, that the pump fits in the block, is the same as the older pump? This thing is crazy different. The bolts that I thought were metric are actually 1/4-28 thread and the bolt heads fit a 11mm wrench perfectly but are an odd 7/16 loose fit. The shaft has not been stepped down, so I think it is the original pump for this engine.

oldspert, I've read in the MARC tech books that the later oil pump housing was soldered on. Couldn't tell you which of the 14 volumes it's in.
