Default Fuel pump - Y-block - which lines go where

Since I’m having trouble starting a newly rebuilt 292 (and I don’t details of all the mechanics), I wanted to confirm I attached the two vacuum lines to the right nipples on the top of the fuel pump.

The new pump has the nipple closest to the timing cover labeled IN and the other one OUT. The original pump also had the word Wiper between the two nipples and an arrow pointing to IN. I assume this means the line going to the hose that goes through the firewall to the wiper should be connected to the IN nipple? And the out nipple should be attached to the block on the bottom rear of the carb. Please confirm.

Thanks

You can plug or cap off the vacuum fittings (at the carburetor) leading to any accessories until you get the engine running. That way they can't be a potential source of problems while troubleshooting the lack of starting.

I figured I could get the engine started faster with the cheap pump and rebuild the original down the road.

I did finally get it started today and now it starts right up. Looks like I will have it on the road real soon.
