B/W overdrive parts pictures
I've been trying to find out who built the B/W O.D.unit I have,I have a couple of pictures of the problem area.It looks as if the splined coupling was pushed too far on the shaft when welded on.It was only engaging 1/4 inch or so of those splines coming out of the trans. It is a 16 spline shaft and coupling.I would like to find out where I can get another coupling.I would also like to know if there is a measurement for overall length for that shaft and coupling,or I have to fit it,then weld it.I had one of these units years ago but it was made by a different builder. That one had a sprocket welded onto the shaft.and another slid on the splines. They were coupled by a double roller chain.

Re: B/W overdrive parts pictures
I think some one used the drive shaft yoke that fit the OD spline.
Probably cut the yoke from the spline, then welded to the shaft. 16 spline, could be '49 up Ford, '55-'62 Chevy maybe Studebaker. Should be easy to find. |

Re: B/W overdrive parts pictures
Those sprockets & double chain is called a Flexible Chain Coupling & can compensate for "slight" mis-alignment problems.---I could use one of them, in my R/H Knee. Pulled an ACL & they CAIN'T fix it!---LOL---I told them I did it, playing NFL Football!---LOL

Re: B/W overdrive parts pictures
Yes cut off transmission yoke. Look and see if you have some kind of drive line service in your area. Some one that makes drive shafts. They can get you one, cut it and weld it.

Re: B/W overdrive parts pictures
I also need a 16 spline coupler. Do you have the OD needed? Hate to buy the wrong size.
