Re: Hollywood Ca sales lot 1942
If this is a 1942 photo, then the second car, a 40 ford convertible would only be two years old. Is the first car a 40 Lasalle? Late model used cars.

Re: Hollywood Ca sales lot 1942
Hello, looks like a 1940 LaSalle model 50 convertible to me also , last year of production. I still like the styling of late 30 and 40,s era cars over today’s offerings.

From the address it is on a street running North/South. Possibly La Brea, Highland, Vine.

Similar pic, but includes a nice view of photographer in the windshield reflection... Don't know where or when.

Re: Hollywood Ca sales lot 1942
Split windshield so pre-war, but definitely not a 39 Cadillac. My Father had a 39 sixty special, it had the headlight pods still separate (not integrated like this car) from the fenders.

That first car is a 40 LaSalle.....first photo, second photo 39 Cadillac, headlight detail is a dead giveaway...

Re: Hollywood Ca sales lot 1942
I found this - looks like Jimmie and Monty were both selling used cars from this spot - The sign on the left says Monty is also offering new cars. The corner has been completely redeveloped and nothing remains.

And here I thought there were no colors in the world before the early 1950's.

Not entirely sure, but I believe the relationship would be like Chrysler and Plymouth. Cadillac and LaSalle dealerships being separate, but the LaSalle was an offshoot from Caddy. |
