Super Photos, Marco!
Could you please a add close-up of the chrome parts? Are they original stock parts? They are different from 30/31 to S/W, but a close look would be fine!

Thanks in advance

Gerald

Unfortunately those were older photos sent to me from Scott McGrew (his car) so they can't be blown up. The handles and escutcheons are considerably different. I went through pics I have for the proper handles and none are good enough to tell much.

It's worth noting that the correct finish is Butler or satin nickel which has a much richer appearance than chrome (in my opinion) but not many folks do it.

Thank you, Marco for searching!

Nevertheless, I think I will try carefully glass bubble blasting nickel plated parts. I have to buy a spare "test" part to see how even it can be made ...by hand. Glass bubble blasting companies are not far from my home as well as a nickel and chrome plater. I will report any progress. I will start end of march when I unpack our Lady from her winter clothes...
best regards,

Gerald

Talking Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures

Hello togehter,

i want to update this thread because I finally continued my restauration work on the chrome interieur parts. Unfortunately, swap meets in Europe donīt give any possibility to buy used Model A parts because its too seldomly driven in Eu.
But I always thought about a possibilty to get my interieur butler finished. My thoughts ended up -- as said before- in mechanically treat my glossy chrome parts instead of chemical treatment. I finally bought a sand blasting system an 0,05 - 0,4mm quartz sand and tried to sandblast carefully the surfaces. I am absolutely happy with the results, in my opinion there is no visual difference to rebutlered parts.

Gerald, those look great! I like them and when I redo my car I will have to find a way to get that finish.

Did you treat or coat the items blasted to prevent rust?

Hi Keith,

i took the original chrome plated parts and blasted VERY carefully. Apprx. 5s on a certain spot, then the surface turned matt. I am pretty sure not to have injured the closed chrome surface.
My chinese automatc watch I put aside not to sandblast it too. I did the whole operation without gloves.
