Again, a Govt. example. The Fed pushed for the Chevy Volt to be built with taxpayer subsidies amounting to almost $50,000 per CAR and look at what a piece of sh-t it is. Catching on fire. Charges lasting only 30 miles IF you dare run the headlites and a heater. Just a crap car and a crap idea.

The fire risk of the Volt is a TV news myth. REAL vehicle fires are caused by GM heated windshield washer systems (which were discontinued after MANY fires), Ford cruise control connectors (I put a few of these out myself; unfortunately they took out the house and garage in more than a few cases) and other cost-reduced electrical components (oh and don't forget GAS tanks, I have been to many of those fires!).

Not defending GM or the Volt, but technology is here to stay. I like my old Ford but my new cars (one Chevy and one Ford) get almost 30 mpg so when it's time to commute my wallet says drive the newer cars.
