Ron,

Last year, I walked around the whole swap meet before I made it to the buildings. This year I plan to go there first. Got some good stuff though.

I wonder why they schedule it the same weekend as the National Roadster Show in Pamona?

This Swap Meet has always been on the last weekend in January, 50 years. I believe it started long before the Pamona Roadster Show ?

Steve,

Yes, from 1959 to 1988. Was in the Capitol A;s.

Are you related to Bob Smith ? Bob had a beautiful 30 Open Cab Pickup.

Ron,

Bob still has his 1930 roadster pickup. He had it in judging at the last roundup. I think he got 430 points. Tom Rut won best of show.

My weather app predicts rain in Turlock for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Is there a "rain date" or is it on rain or shine? Don't want to walk around in the rain.

Tiny,

Don't mind the fog. My wife has arthritis so we have to park in the handicapped area in the dirt near the entrance. I just don't want her slogging in the mud.

Be prepared for about a 10 mile walk that day. It's quite a large swap meet. She may choose to stay home as it looks like we are getting rain this year. It's been a while since its rain on the Turlock swap meet, I'm not going to complain as we need the rain BAD.

Looks like it's going to be rainy and cold. Think I'll skip Turlock this year and go to the big 3 meet in San Diego next month.

ya gotta know how to play the game, We modify our offerings based on the weather. On sunny years its a lot of literature; cloudy years, we lean more towards iron and steel. This year? we'll be offering canoes and snorkels

SnowPlane: ". . . ya gatta know how to play the game."

In Eureka, CA. I made my fortune selling umbrellas in the winter time and raccoon coats and fir gloves in the summer time fog.

I too will missing Modesto this year. But I won't miss a good swap meet - I'll be visiting my Basement and storage garage.

I did my first Turlock back in the '70's.It has never failed to be great. I am surprised how many people never go inside the exhibition halls, which are full of parts too.
