Can anyone tell me how to remove the needle from a '34 Ford speedometer? Thanks in advance.

That was anti-climatic.

Re: speedometer question
I'd hold the needle shaft with some needle nose pliers. Don't want to over stress the anything attached to the shaft

Re: speedometer question
And I suppose the other question is, how do you get it back on ......in the right place ?
If they are like any other speedo I have worked on, you have to mark the drum before you remove needle. or what is the alternative ? Drive with a GPS and push the needle on at the matching speed ? |

Re: speedometer question
there is an adjustment to calibrate the speedo. It's a tab attached to the pointer coil spring
but it will not adj. to zero |

Re: speedometer question
I put it back together and positioned the pointer at zero when re-installing the needle. It seems to work fine when testing with the cordless drill and speedo cable. Haven't been able to test it in the car yet because it's been raining the last couple of days. Thanks. Doug.

Re: speedometer question
In watch repair we have a special tool that directs the force outward when pulling of a typical watch hand.
