600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
Guys,
Finally ready for tires. Any comments on what tires may be better than others? I want to run original size 600-16. Coker, Firestone, BF Goodrich all carry the 3-3.5" white wall width. Thank you, Peder |

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
On my 39 I have the 6.00-16" 3" WW Coker classics. Coker was great to deal with and made sure what i wanted worked for my year and model

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
If originality is your objective, the only 6.00-16 tire currently offered with the original 1935 tread pattern is the Goodyear.

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
David,
Do you mean Goodrich or Goodyear? Also, I noticed that many guys are running 650 - 700 which has a greater diameter. That must mess with the speedometer, correct? Peder |

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
That is true. Tires can be easily changed back to an original size. A lot easier then lets say a chopped top.

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
I had a set of Coker Firestone 600x16's on our '47 Ford Convertible, they didn't last very long. I changed over to the Coker BF Goodrich 600x16; also have a set of Coker BF Goodrich 700x16 on our '39 Zephyr. Bothe sets of BF Goodrich tires have held up much better than the Firestones.

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
The GOODYEAR, not Goodrich has the correct tread look and is the correct diameter around the outside of the tire. Most of the others are made in molds from the 50's for replacement tires and are smaller than original. JMO

I used Lester's tires and found them to be excellent. http://forums.aaca.org/f128/lester-tires-231264.html

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
I vote radials. Have them on my '35's using stock wires with tubes. Big improvement in handling for me. One set from Coker (600x16 FS WWW) and one set from Diamondback (550x16 & 750x16 BW). I don't believe I would ever go back to bias ply tires again.

Re: 600-16 Tires for my 35 Coupe
Another vote for radials, got mine from Coker, 550s up front and 650 in the rear. Can't believe how the car drives and handles. I used to have Firestone ww, great looking tire but felt like rocks.
