Default Fan Belt Removal

Is there a "trick" to removing the fan belt ? It's a '29 and the belt is a bit wider than the space between the pulley & the 2 u-bolts. I'm a "T" guy helping a buddy !

Does the car have the Float-a-Motor mounts instead of the standard Ford motor mounts? The Float-a-Motors can allow the engine to shift forward. If you have the standard Ford motor mounts, is the front mount adjusted so that it's pulling the engine down too much? It could be the springs on the front mount are weak and are sagging allowing the engine to droop.

One thing you can do is loosen the nut on the yoke so that is is even with the end of the threads. You can then jack up the engine enough to remove the belt.

The other way is to unscrew the generator pulley bolt. It’s a tapered shaft.
By the way, have you ever been to see Fred’s collection? He’s just south of Longbranch on the water. The 2014 mafca convention grand tour was out to his place. Really nice guy.

Not sure how taking the generator pulley off will help to get the belt off of the crank pulley. The problem he is having is fitting the belt between rhe crank pulley and the front spring u-bolts.

Becareful jacking up the front of the engine without loosening the rear engine mounts, you can crack the flywheel housing

Turning the belt sideways , wedge it between the crank pulley and spring clamp, turn the engine over backwards , out pops the belt. It will leave marks on the belt. Also my hand crank is aligned fits and works good.
