Default Hotel Rooms for Gettysburg EFV8 Eastern Meet

If anyone is looking for rooms in Gettysburg, I just cancelled two rooms at the Gettysburg Courtyard Marriott for 6/23/14 to 06/25/14 if anyone is still looking for a room for the meet.

This hotel is next to the host hotel.

Hi Everyone, Chris, sorry to hear you're not needing those two rooms.

I'm part of the hosting club, and was in the Wyndham Gettysburg today (right next to the Courtyard) and then hit the roads checking the Thursday tour route from there to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing and back. I drove some great roads. Came across one called Studebaker Ln. and will include that on part of the route.

Still working on the route towards Hershey AACA Museum.

Route 15, the main N/S interstate (65 mph divided two-lane) bypassing the town is being repaved and is done northbound and they're working hard and making progress on the southbound lanes. Looks like it will be done in time for the meet even though I don't expect many people will use that road.

One reason for the battle, and is still true today, there are many roads spread in a spoke around the town so the bypass is not gonna get much use from us.

Thanks Jeff,
I was looking forward to it, Gettysburg, Hershey Park with the kids and several planned stops along the way to and back. I bought a new house and will be closing on June 27. Lots of packing and organization to do beforehand...

Hi again Chris, Thanks for the note, I'm sorta glad to hear the reason you can't come is the new home. I was hoping it wasn't some disaster.

Don, yes I'm writing about US15 right outside the host hotel. The Northbound side is new blacktop, smooth as can be. The southbound side has one lane of new blacktop, and one lane that they're milling and laying asphalt. They're working on about a five mile stretch, and when I drove it yesterday they had one lane going South and both lanes going north.

If anyone wants to take off on their own Catoctin Mountain Orchard is about 30 minutes south on 15. Fresh baked pies daily....and they are superb!

Jim, Great Minds Think Alike! I stopped there (http://www.catoctinmountainorchard.com) heading south outta Gettysburg on Tuesday. Got some hot pepper jelly, apples, and pickles. The pies looked great I just can't eat a whole one like I used to! There were some great looking greens, rhubarb, beets, etc. Twern't especially cheap (you're looking at about $14 of goodies), but dang it IS GOOD! I just ate one of those apples and now my keyboard is sticky!

The panorama shows how close the two hotels are! Courtyard left, Wyndham right.
