e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
The two arms on my cross-shaft are at different angles. The first picture shows the driver's side. The arm angles forward which in turn puts the brake rod heading outward towards the rear. This looks correct.
However, in the second picture, the passenger's side looks different and I have to flex the brake rod inward in order to get the clevis on the shaft. Perhaps someone bent the arm as a "farmer fix" for worn parts. I'm thinking I should heat the arm and bent it to where it needs to be, but I just wanted every ones thoughts before I do it.

Re: e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
You can bend that but since it is a forged piece, I recommend doing it cold. There is no need to heat it and loose the temper.

Re: e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
That's for the parking brake and it should angle forward on both sides, to match the angle of the frame side rails.

Re: e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
Yea, the first picture shows it that way and looks correct. The second picture shows the other side. It starts to angle front but then bends rearward slightly near the end. Maybe I should just over-look it. After all, it's just the e-brake. I don't want to break it.

Re: e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
I do think you could slip a pipe over it and bend it to the correct angle and do it cold.

Re: e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
If the rod end will slip on by bowing the rod a little, and not bind up, your good !

Re: e-brake cross-shaft arm angle
Thanks guys. I think i'll just leave it that way for now. The rod does go on if I flex it. If it creates a problem later, i'll fix it then.
