I'm hoping that "Pete" has a well-developed sense of humor.

When I was a kid, I watched the guy at the corner position his car over the storm drain to change his oil. It worked for him.

Why would you think that's a joke? It keeps those damn noisy frogs quiet.

Those frogs are very good eating and you don't have to go to a swamp to jig them.

Here’s a trick I learnt’ from an old timer shade tree guy. If you for some reason can’t get a bucket or pan underneath, double up two strong Hefty bags, set on a large piece of cardboard. drain into the bag, slide it out from underneath. Works great

I forgot about Spotted Owl. It's been decades. LOL! For those who think this is for real, relax, it's all a joke. In the great Pacific Northwest there are many hardcore environmentalists who love to protest and shut things down while paddling their plastic kayaks or driving Volvos wearing wool socks and Birkenstocks and campaigning to tear down the hydroelectric dams so they can transition to electric cars. Back to the original post I'm fascinated by the vacuum technique. What a great idea.

In Minnesota, it's Loons, not Spotted Owls. I have heard they taste a lot like Bald Eagle.

Like Tim says above, you should have two pipe threaded holes at the very front of the bottom, siderail, oil pan-mounting surfaces on each side of block. They can be seen in pic BELOW. FIRST hole at front, on each side on oil pan surface. This block shown is 1932. the two holes point straight down. '33-'48 holes are located in same general area, with the holes angled outward at 45º. REMEMBER....The flathead engines have two, separate water chambers, LEFT & RIGHT. They ARE NOT connected in engine.
