Default Hotrod or OG

I recently picked up a 36 Club Cab but had the toughest time deciding to go with an (OG)original or hotrod.
The hotrod was 10k more but the shaved door handles rubbed me the wrong way and I'd have to change up the suspension to put a little larger wheels on it. The drivability and air conditioning almost pulled me back to the hotrod but ended up going with the OG.

Just for conversation, what way would you have gone?

Yup. But in the final analysis, buy the best car you can and make it your own.

IMHO, a club cabriolet is not a good candidate for a "Hot Rod".

The choice came down to this 1936 Ford Deluxe Club Cabriolet Street Rod or the Stock version pictured above. I think that Robert made the correct choice.

I do not know any history of it, but your car came up in a thread on here about a guy looking for '36. We all agreed it seemed like a nice car for a nice price.

Well, I've read the whole thread and still do not not know the meaning of the abbreviation of OG. I presume, from the discussion it must mean Original, "something" . With the rarity of the Club Cab I would prefer it remain original myself, but it's your car. I restored a 36 Club Cab back in my youth, and took a Dearborn award in the Early Ford national meets Beautiful vehicles.

Lawson. It's a term borrowed from rap and American culture meaning "original gangster". Meaning if you are a old car guy you must be a gangster I guess?!! I'm just a proud regular ford guy, never wanted to be a gangster. It's just a term and really doesn't matter. It's like a kid that says that's groovy, it doesn't mean it has grooves. I guess you could say Al Capone was OG, but he was no hero of mine. We identify with the outlaw culture in America. Jesse James was not a great guy, but we like him because of "freedom". But no one cares about the guy that worked to get him.

I personally don't really see the difference in shaving the handles or adding peep mirrors and stock. I guess because you can do a little mod. I'm more a roth guy when it comes to doing mods. Go all in or leave it alone. Just my opinion.

We have all seen cars driving around with aftermarket drag wings on a civic 4 cylinder with coffee can exhaust.

Yes nice little touches are great too. It's your car and a nice one at that.

With a modernized cooling system (water pumps, fan, pressurized radiator) and a clean block, A/C should not be a problem. A few mild mods to the engine will take care of the drivability. If you want more, add a T5 trans. You will retain the flavor and driving experience of a '36 while staying comfortable.

OG can mean “old guard” as well. Meaning how it was done back in the day. Original gangster is the most common usage.

Neither term really makes sense here but thanks for asking as I too was curious. Maybe the author will chime in.
