Default 1938 sedan antenna

How do I replace the antenna lead from the radio to the center mast? Does the headliner have to be dropped?

Take a look at the forward most portion of the head liner. I think you will find a removable panel covered in headliner material. That panel covers the windshield wiper motor and antenna connection.

Correction, 1937 has the header panel. See next post for correct information.

If the old lead is still in place, attach a string to one end and pull the lead out. Tie the new lead to the string and pull it through.
The lead was routed down the left windshield post and came out below the instrument panel on the left.
If the old lead is absent, you can push an electrical fish line down there. It's a task that requires patience but can be done.

Dropping an old headliner and reinstalling it usually doesn't end well.
