headliner grabber/door tins....an idea
I wonder if this would work with a little modifying? Just cut off the rounded part and flatten out all the rows of teeth except the first one. It's aluminum, so with a little hammer and dolly work one might be able to bend it if a curve is needed. In case the link doesn't work, it's a carpet grabber or transition strip used in buildings where a carpeted floor meets a vinyl or tiled floor.
Anyway, here's the Home depot link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/TrafficM...MF12/308371112 These should be available at any hardware store. I've never tried this.So it may or may not work. |

That type (alloy) of aluminum is not easy to work, it is more likely to crack/break than move when worked.

This can be used; there was recently a thread either on here or the hamb with detailed pictures of using this in place of missing original strips. There is also a thread showing how to form some light galvanized sheet metal (duct tin) to act as a retainer strip. |

Thanks Rich.I'm aware of the original thread and thought a transition strip would be a little sturdier. My coupe is done and the strips were in good shape.I was just offering a suggestion in hopes of helping others.

Re: headliner grabber/door tins....an idea
Hi there. I am going to try to install a headliner on my new to me 1942 ford super deluxe. The suggestions I have read here will help. Old headliner was gone so not sure how they treated the rear window flange. Does anybody know what might work best?

The headliner folds over and glues to the rear window flange and the rubber gasket holds it in place.
