Default Holley 94

I know there is two different nozzles and tops for this carb, one nozzle is a taller one. My question is, is one better than the other or due they perform the same.
Thanks

Aside from minor changes for air inlet filtration and changes for the ignition system controls for the later Load-O-Matic, the Holley 94 carbs were basically the same performance wise from 1938 for cars and trucks and up through 1957 for trucks. The Holley 2110 was the next evolution up to a larger size so it was more for performance improvement.

The taller nozzles require the proper top.

Send a private message to charlie ny on this forum if he doesn't chime in. I know he posted his preference on which nozzle bars had the best driveability. I don't remember which ones he said, but think it was the 2nd style ? Upside down V shaped ?
They don't get any better than Charlie on 94's especially.

Jseery,

Yes, that's the post I remember reading from Charlie NY. I know there is an issue with certain nozzle bars hitting the bottom of the carb tops and need to be changed, but I just don't remember which nozzles interfered with which carb tops.
I'm sure others and Charlie remember.

The minor changes could fill volumes on just the actual 94 carbs alone. Some folks just look for the 59 series carbs since they are closer to being the same from 1946 thru 1948 and there is no ported vacuum for load-o-matics. Some of the prewar carbs like 38 & 39 have smaller orifices for atomization purposes so they work better in the real early ones. The Lincoln ones are a little different and the V8-60 ones aren't really even 94s. Once a person gets involved in the 8BA era carbs the small changes get more complicated. If a person wants to use these for multi carb set ups, they would be safer to get matching 59 series units. That would make life easier. Worrying about what interchanges with what and what to plug off and what to keep can get to be a PITA.

The Lincolns aren't 94's either. The number is not a model number, but rather, the venturi size rounded.

The base of what we refer to as 94s has AA1 cast in. I believe that was Holleys model#. The 92s have AA 7/8 cast in.

For those of you unfamiliar with V8-60's, the later ones used the 92 model carb.
