Default 35 v8 flathead oil pan removel

Hey,

As mentioned earlier, I come from Europe and my English is not very good.

I have a 35 Ford convirble V8 sedan.
Is it possible to remove the oil pan when the engine stays in the car? or does the complete engine have to be taken out of the car ...?

It takes some viggling to get it out...
Front pulley needs to come out a bit...need to loosen front motor mounts and crank has to be in a certain position if i remember right.
If you´re going for honing i would pull it since cleaning is a major pain with it installed...

You can´t remove the oilpan with the front pulley in place has to unbolt and knock it out a bit.
Otherwise the pan gets stuck between crank and pulley.
If you´re going to rering it you usually run a hone down the bores...that´s why i asked about honing.

I did not know that you always had to hone when you fitted new piston rings

When you get your pistons out you need to measure the wear to see if its worth the time and money to hone and re-ring the orig pistons.

This is why I told you in you're other post, IF you pull the heads and pistons to either "borrow a dial bore gage OR Buy one from any machine tool supply house (They are maybe $100.00 US at the most) and check the cylinders wear........that will tell you how much wear, and how straight the cylinders are AND IF you are wasting you're time "re ringing" the pistons!!!!

as you said, I first took the heads off. One is already finished. the other is a thread in the water pump. Anyone have any idea how to get this loose ..? I don't want to destroy anything.

If the crankshaft is in that certain position, is it still necessary to move the front pulley forward? Does anyone know what the correct crankshaft position is? I assume 1 & 5 pistons down to move counterweight to top. Correct?

If you want new rings to seat properly, you need to hone the cylinder walls with the correct pattern.
