Thumbs up Stromberg EFire success

Since I see a lot of people trashing stromberg I would like to report a great success with the stromberg Efire on my 59AB.
All stock motor. I followed the instructions to a T and it was basically bolt on.
In my opinion Stromberg makes great products and they definitely stand by thier products. Most companies don’t care about you after a sale.
I had one question before I installed and Clive the owner got back to me promptly

I believe people that experience issues is because they did not follow directions or there is another issue.

Some specs:
1941 Ford w/59AB
6v possitive ground
Efire 21A for 6V
New stromberg 97 carb
Stromberg Efire wires
Petronix flamethrower 6v coil 1.5 OHM
Bypassed regulator for coil

One question : "How long have you been running it?"

All we want to do is fairly evaluate these products and enable us to weed out those that are inferior for everyone's benefit. Let's give this a little longer before we make any absolute pronouncements.

I'd had two experiences with these units. Folks that know me, know I tend to do things correctly. Both units were total crap.

This is true.. I worked in the manufacturing sector of shoes and 5% of all productions… something is wrong with them.

They were of no help. All they did was ask how I did "this and that". When we went down the list (more than once) all they could offer was "well, it appears you did something incorrectly".
Yes, some bad stiff gets through quality control now and then. Two times I tried and two times I got crap? You do the statistics...

And I worked for a steel products manufacturer. We were allowed two parts defective per million shipped.

It is my belief that nobody does QC anymore. The buyer finds the defective units. Costs less to send out another then pay people to test them before the unit leaves the factory.

I did medical research (IT director) and early on in the 1990s, Microsoft quit printing manuals or directions because nobody ever read them. We had a saying RTFM amongst ourselves ( Read the F'ing Manual) when questions came up. Then alas, they quit shipping them.
I bought over 200 Dell computers for our studies and only 1 was dead on arrival, bought 50 Acer tablets for another study and 50% didn't work (total crap) and we had to fight the company for a year to get any (not all) our money back. Just the way it is now.
It has been hard for me to take but "new doesn't equal good" anymore.

All very valid points.

To this day, I take pride in my work and as such, do my best to deliver a great "product" each and every time.

I’m still waiting for an email reply from Stromberg on my E-fire that is back in the box and on the shelf in my garage. It would run, but misfired as you accelerated. Rebuilt divers helmet distributor (Skip Haney) works fine. She’s put away for the winter rains!

According to my mechanic most flatheads like 8 degrees of advance. Stromberg efires are set at 4 out of the box. Did you try giving it some advance? Also you can not use the copper core wires .. I did buy the efire wires and installed them at the same time.

One last thing you need a good coil. I went with the petronix flamethrower
I’m running 6 volt positive ground and my 59AB is loving the Efire

Palermo - how is your efire doing? Its been about 9 months since you first posted this. I have one on my new to me '35 Fordor. It runs great, but I wonder about its long term reliability. Thanks, Steve

A friend here (France) finally went with an EFire last yr on his 35 Cabriolet .He drives the car just about every weekend at least 200-300 miles and is extremely pleased Lots of hills and valleys where he lives and with the 411's it performs well. Soon he will have the 4 liter French 110 hp in to replace the orig '35 babbit motor.
