Rubber Floor Mat Installations -- questions
I'm working on the installation of a Dennis Carpenter rubber floormat in my '35 five window. (Note: DC tells me they haven't made a '35-specific floor mat since 2012 when the molds "wore out") I'm using a '36 mat, which is okay -- I'm running a '39 trans and the '36 mat drops cleanly over the shift tower.
Questions: I had to cut and fit the Carpenter insulation mat -- it's just a blank rectangle of horse hair -- should I tape it down before installing the rubber mat? It appears the rubber mat will have to be trimmed here and there; does it go UNDER the aluminum sill plate? Or butt up to it? I laid the matt in the sun before starting to fit it up, which helped -- but do you use a heat gun to form the matt over the transmission tunnel? Are there clips/screws that hold the matt in place once it's been fit? Thanks
