Default Anyone catch it?

Did anyone catch the "Chasing Classic Cars" and the Nudnick Carini buying the 32 4 Door Sedan and him under the hood looking for the "Matching Numbers" on the engine block?? He's nothing but a "Slick" used car salesman and a dishonest (really) opportunist!! He should stick to his restoration business IMO.

Ya' know, when I started watching this, I got the distinct impression that Carini knew what he was doing. Then, as I watched a few more shows, I saw him commit some glaring errors such as this, so I think Paul is correct; it is entertainment. Very well done entertainment, but not quite good enough to fool the real experts.

This was underlined in a thread on the H.A.M.B. regarding a million dollar, tastelessly done Model "A" coupe shamelessly promoted on the auction circuit by this same Wayne Carini.

It is amazing the things he does not know that he should know. I am amazed at the things I have learned over the years by mistake. Like dont lean on the fender while grabbing a running engine spark plug wire.

I'll check once in a while to cherry pick what scenes to look at ( Tivo ). Always look to see Roger's antics. ( That A model was wrong. )

As far as knowing the Ford Process, Realize he got where he is by studying Ferrari. Good deal for him. What other car made gets appreciated as rapidly as Enzo's.

Was it a 4 cyl? I think the number is on those blocks is on the bellhousing. Of course not there on a V8, on the trans.

A V8 equipped 4 door sedan. I will say this about Wayne and that is his taste in the two Lincoln's (34 Victoria & 38 K Coupe) he has acquired and either restored or refurbished is "Impeccable". BOTH are just "fabulous" cars!!!!

It was a V8. I had one eye on the show as I was doing something else. If I recall correctly the production Co. flashed a note identifying it as a 32 V8 Model B or something as such. Perhaps someone can verify this? Despite the TV entertainment slant I enjoy the show and the cars featured.

Maybe he was looking to see that the frame number matched whatever paperwork the owner had before deciding if he wanted to buy it or did he say "matching number on the block"?. I have to believe he knows where a Ford V8 Vin is, on the trans. Was he on the Left side of the car or Right side when he was looking? I only run across his show every once in a while and didn't see that particular episode.

Pretty sure he was on the drivers side, though they did open the passenger side. Like I said, I had one eye on it for sure, but was distracted.

Earlier in the same episode he was in a barn full of cars and aprts including a well decayed 5 window, among other things. I would have loved going into that barn!

"His"own words as he was lifting the left hood side and talking to the owners was "Check the engine number to see IF its matching numbers!" and proceeded to look under the hood at the front left part of the engine. The "SHOW" referred to it as a 1932 "Model B" Ford. In his own word he was at least correct in saying "one year only body style" and that "in 33 and 34 the body changed. That was at least correct. BY the BY according to the show the price was "per-determined" and check was in pocket for the asking price IF it met his satisfaction at time of viewing!!!

It is possible that it was a Model B and at some point someone put a V8 in it.

Took a picture of Wayne in front of my brothers car at a Hemmings cruise in last year. Of course everyone wanted to talk to him and get an autograph.

You pretty much trashed talked Carini. Did you have anything dealings with him that didn't work out? I just like to watch that show for entertainment myself, especially the earlier shows with Roger and not some much for any thing tech.

He says "cool" too much. Guess he does it to show how ... "cool" ... he is.

Which he isn't.

(Better than "awesome" which has become disgusting. If it's your favorite word, try finding something that doesn't make you sound like you're trying to imitate your teenaged grand daughter.)

Maybe he should switch to "groovy" which needs to make a comeback.

(Good post, Rock.)

Yeah, Carini can't expect him to know everything. I wouldn't be so hard on him.

And yes, it's just entertainment. At least the producers of this show try to have most of the footage concentrating on buying/selling cars.

Most of the other reality car shows spend 90% of their footage on the clown antics of the star and supporting cast, obviously scripted and acting for the camera. Those producers must think the audience will be more interested in seeing the goofy human characters than the mechanics of the old cars. And, sad to say, they could be right!

Auto related "Reality TV" is nothing but garbage.

Staged and fake. The hosts don't have a lot of credibility, especially the ass monkey.

There has been quite a lot of discussion on the AACA page about these bad shows and about how terribly fake auto "Reality TV" really is.

An enthusiast would be better off doing some work in the garage rather than wasting time with these Un Reality shows.

Stopped watching the 'Velocity Channel' years ago - too phony for me. For car related video I search YouTube and watch real car-guy entertainers like Mart....

If indeed it was a Model B, it would be a 4 cyl and I believe the B's had the number on the block like the A's, drivers side.
