I messed with the throttle linkage, it did not have enough throw so it was only getting about 1/2 throttle! I fixed that, and it has a little more pep now Lucy the Hound and I took it for a short drive in the country and by my folks place, runs pretty well although I gotta get the exhaust fixed...it's LOUD!

Hey Chris, looks like we'll have to add spedo and oil pressure to the to-do list?

Thanks for the photos, Lucy looks like a great co-pilot. She's keepin' her eyes on the road ahead.

If the windshield didn't have cracks and a leaky gasket, I'd personally keep it in a truck just like that if it were mine. I love it when they start to get that milky look.

The speedo is disconnected due to the cable being bound up, and the oil pressure is working...The gauge barley moves. It either has a screwed up sender or it has very little oil pressure LOL! I checked the gauge and it sweeps all the way so I do not think thats it. I plan on putting a mechanical temp and oil pressure gauge in it anyways.
My old 46 pickup had a 59AB in it that also had hardly any oil pressure once warm. Never made any noise so I never worried too much about it

This isn't "cool loud". Have you ever ridden in an open cockpit airplane? I have not...but I would imagine this is what it would sound like!

For our '46 pick up, the oil pressure gauge didn't register correctly so I bought a new oil pressure sending unit. It didn't help. I then bought a NOS oil pressure gauge from Dennis Carpenter. Now it all works perfectly.

Man, that is a good-lookin' truck!
I had a similar experience myself last week with my '52 F-2. It's truly a magical moment when the all the greasy, dirty work pays off, and you hear it running well for the first time. I'd forgotten how much fun it is. I pity the poor souls who think that motoring is done from a climate-controlled, sound-proof interior through a primary control module.
As I worked on my truck, I couldn't help but lament that when it was new, almost every guy aged 15 and up had a solid working knowledge of what made it go. Nowdays, hardly anyone does. Good luck with your truck.

I took it by the lady's house whom I got it from last night. She got the truck from her Dad when she was younger, and it was her only form of transportation for many years. Her Dad passed away last year and she figured she would never do anything with the ol pickup so that is how I got it. Her Mom was there as well, and they were both very pleased to see the ol truck out and about! It had not been licensed since 1991.

Looks sweet Chris. I know the feeling of getting an old vehicle on the road and what it takes. Yours looks like a lot of fun. Just get out and enjoy it.

Well, the ol pickup strives on! This past weekend we had out annual "Flatheads only" reliability run. I had a couple friends come down from Edmonton, Canada to run their AV8, but it developed a knock and started smoking pretty bad while in town. Disappointing, as they drove quite far, I called around trying to find them a ride so they could at least still go on the run. My friend asked if they could take the 47 on the run...I told him that I've only put a 100 or so miles on it since it has been up and running again. But, I have AAA, so what the hell I'm glad to say the 47 did flawless on the 330 mile run, even in 100 degree weather! It actually seems to run better too...I think a nice long hot run helped to loosen the ol girl up!

PLUS- Lucy the hound gotta go
