Default Correct engine color for a 47 Flathead

Hello all,

This may have been posted before, but was wondering if someone could tell me the correct blue for my 47 flathead. Also, what is close in a rattle can for touch ups?

Thanks!!

Kevin

Correct color is made by Specialized Auto Parts in Houston Texas, part #M202. Called antique Ford engine blue. They say its correct for 1941-1948 trucks and all 1942-1948 V8 cars. Comes in 12 oz. spray cans, most suppliers carry it Macs, C&G Ford Parts. I hope this helps you.

Is it easier to paint an engine with rattle can paint or just brush it on? I was wondering about over-spray & such.

I've used the brush on kind with great results. I just had to mask off the head nuts and other things I didn't want to get paint on.
