1/2 - 20 repair fitting
I need a source or pt # for the repair fittings that I find in core carbs that
find their way into my stash. The male end has 1/2-20 threads and seals with a gasket against the inlet . The female end accepts 1/4 tube , ferrule and 1/2-20 Ford nut. I use these fittings to salvage 94 air horns where the ferrule seat is no longer concentric enough to be leak proof. I'm running low ! Charlie ny |

Charlie, is this what you need? I’m not sure if the inlet side of this one is made for a Fordnut or flared line. Worth a look.

HB,
I'll give mike a jingle and see if he has them for Ford nut....the inlet on the one in photo is for flared. Thanks, Charlie |

I am thinking that Max had (or has) this sort of stuff. Try Max?
Post #2 seems to have what I think you are asking. |

Charlie I deleted my comment as I had a solution that had apparently dried up… I have none. Check with James at Gotham auto parts.

Re: 1/2 - 20 repair fitting
What would it take to take one of the available flair fittings and remachine the seat to take a 1/4 pipe ferrule?

Re: 1/2 - 20 repair fitting
Weatherhead went to Eaton. They may have manufactured stuff like that back in the day. A person would have to an old catalog to find out. If there is a part number then a person may be able to find them.

Re: 1/2 - 20 repair fitting
Mart,
I'm working on it now...to keep 100% concentricity between the seat and threads is more than plunging a countersink into the flare contour. Charlie ny |

Re: 1/2 - 20 repair fitting
I'd make a "guide bushing" that threads into the carb with a flange on it (to control how far it goes in). The seat refinishing tool runs within it.
The tool and the bushing would be installed together, then do the machining operation on the seat. I'd make the bushing long enough to really orient the seat refinishing tool exactly where it needs to go. |

Re: 1/2 - 20 repair fitting
there's a coning tool for firearm barrels that has a guide and a cutter for different degrees and calibers, maybe something would match.
