Default 35 Ford Hubcaps

I recently installed 35 Ford wheels on my 30 CCPU. I purchased new hubcaps from Snyder's that fit reallllllly well. The problem is these hubcaps are extremely hard to remove. Is there a special tool that Ford sold to remove these hubcaps without marring the paint/powder coat finish on the wheels?

Wood wedge or one of those plastic (really strong) ones that Stihl sells for driving in a tree. Just something to get it started to where you can grab it.

I use the yellow plastic bondo spreaders you pick up at swap meets etc. Place the thin edge between the hubcap and wheel then use a flat screwdriver to pry against the yellow spreader. Have done this for years with no paint chips etc.

Nice method Pat, kinda like using wide putty knives to protect drywall/trim when prying kick boards/mop boards/trim off drywall. Going to try this instead of my method above, next time.

Harbor Freight has a set of plastic tools, so I'm told.

HF sell a hard plastic tool, this one came from a Swapmeet it is 1” wide w/a double taper and a sharp edge to get into the seam.

Pat
A well tested procedure.

Looks like I'll take a ride the HF and pick up these plastic wedge tools.

I use a 3 or 6 inch putty knife and a screw drive, putty knife in place between tire and rim, a little pull outward and if the cap doesn't move right away I then shove the screw driver between the cap and putty knife. Haven't hurt my powder coating in twenty years. Rubber hammer to refit.
