Default Curb weight 1951 Mercury and pics

I went up to the recycling center and drove my car onto the scale. I was curious what the curb weight was. It is 3,760 lbs with a full tank of gas.

I suppose the owner of the scrapyard got real excited when he saw your car sitting on his scale!

Your dog looks less than thrilled in the third pic. Outstanding car, thanks for sharing.

The fuel weight is around 6-Lbs per gallon so at 19.5 gallons your fuel weight would be 117-Lbs. That would put the car at 3,643-Lbs with zero fuel. They aren't light weights. I don't know if my overdrive cars are same weight but they are likely pretty close anyway.

Great looking Merc you have there. I seem to recall reading that the 52 Mercs were actually lighter than the 51s. I've never weighed my 52 so interesting to hear what others weigh. Mine has lost a little weight due to rust over the years. :-)
