Default front engine mount frame hole diameter

What should the diameter of the front engine mount hole in the frame be? Mine is worn to about 7/8" x 1". I plan on welding a plug in place. Any advice on getting the front to back measurement correct when I redrill the hole?

What makes you think its "worn" The front motor mount slides through a brass support bushing that sits in the hole of the cross member. Sorry I looked for a photo but cannot find one handy. You might try a parts catalogue, say page A-106 in Snyders. It shows the repop mount system quite well.
Cheers!

The hole is big for a reason, you do not need to do any thing with it. and forget the bushing they only used it for a short time. The front of the motor needs to be able to move around some. You have frame twist, plus the engine moves some from the real end, from braking, acceleration, hitting bumps.

I have checked the hole diameter on two other frames, both are not round, but it looks like they started life in the + or - 9/16"-5/8" range. I've looked at the bushing in the parts catalogs but there is not an o.d. measurement given. I just don't want the bushing to fall thru the hole a few miles down the road. I don't think I want to install the engine with out the bushing and have it shift back and forth that much. Wouldn't that cause a lot of vibration?

I looked at four frames and the holes appear to be 7/8".
