Default '47 front gravel pan bumpers

Long ago I removed a couple front gravel pan supports from a '46 for use on my '47.

These pieces clamped to the bumper irons and had a rubber cushion that went against the bottom of the pan.

Getting closer to putting some of this together; I looked for the rubber pieces; but only found some pieces that look like they slide over the bumper irons.

Are these slip over rubber things a later change to replace the metal with rubber cushion pieces I have?

Or, does anyone know where to get the rubbers for the clamp on brackets.

Rich my '46 has the bumpers pictured on the right in you illustration. I've never seen the one pictured on the left. I can't find anything in the '41-'48 book ether. If you are a member of the V-8 Club perhaps the advisor for '46 thru '48 cars has an answer.

Your picture on the left are mount brackets for Ford fog lights. They are hard to find as complete as yours are.

Thank you; that is interesting. I take it the lights bolt up to these brackets thru a hole in the pan.

Guess I need to get a set of the rubber things; I found a crappy picture on line that kinda shows them, look right?

Gary, that makes perfect sense, as I've seen most accessory fog lights mounted right to the front pan. I have seen questions on this and other sites as to where the light's should be mounted on the pan and these brackets answer the question. The '41 thru '48 book offered by the V-8 Club should include these in the book.

The bumper pans on the front of my '47 coupe use the rubber mounts you show on the right side of your photo. They are fitted vertically as shown in your photo, over the inner steel bumper bracket - one rubber mount on each side of the car's front. I think the mounting slot of my rubber fittings are open on the bottom so they can be slipped down over the top of the steel bracket ..... the bottom having been cut-away/open during a body restoration. Otherwise, one would need to take the steel bracket off to slid the rubber over the end.

My fog lights, usually provided by the dealer as an option, have a tag "Ford" and are stamped manufactured by Unity Company Chicago. They have a fitting that goes thru a hole in the bumper pan and clamps on the outer steel bumper bracket. The fitting that goes thru the bumper pan as a saw-toothed adjustment design to position the horizontal lamp angle.

I don't recognize the fittings you show on the left of your photo; perhaps for an after market fog light ?. They remind me of brackets for radiator mounting.

If you would like photos, I could try that.

Thanks for the info.

I noticed that Drake's kit has four pieces; why do I keep finding more stuff I should have ordered when he had free shipping last month.

The brackets for the fog lights shown in #1 are the Ford supplied brackets with their fog light kit. The type with the serrated adjustment are aftermarket.
